Finish 2025 Strong: Ground Your Final Quarter in the Values That Drive Real Results
Many people treat Q4 (or for some, the last 90 days of the calendar year) like a sprint to the finish line. The emphasis often turns to cramming in projects, chasing metrics, and trying to salvage whatever didn't happen in Q1 through Q3.
I’ll offer you a refresh. Let’s use these last 90 days differently.
Not as cleanup in aisle 5, but as a chance to get clear on how you actually want to lead and be.
Start with two values.
Not the ones that sound good on an interview. The ones that would genuinely shift how you work if you honored them every day.
Maybe it's transparency. Or openness. Resilience. Kindness. Accountability. Integrity. Excellence.
Pick two that feel like they'd change something if you took them seriously.
Then define what they mean in real life.
This is where most people stop. They pick a word and move on. But a value without behavior attached to it is just... a word.
So ask:
What does it look like when I'm living this?
What does it feel like when I'm not?
If you chose accountability, for example, aligned might mean you're meeting commitments, having direct conversations, and setting clear expectations. Not aligned? You're avoiding hard conversations, missing deadlines, or letting things slide and hoping no one notices.
Next, pick three tactics.
Not goals. Not aspirations. Tactics. Repeatable actions you can do every week that keep you aligned.
Examples:
A 15-minute Sunday calendar review
A daily two-sentence reflection on whether you honored your values that day
A standing 1:1 rhythm with each person on your team
Small, may feel boring, but consistent. That's what builds momentum over 90 days.
Now track it.
You can't manage what you don't measure. So decide how you'll actually know whether you're on track.
Weekly reflection? Feedback from your team? A hard look at your calendar to see if your time matches your stated priorities?
Pick something concrete. A simple gut feeling in this sitch doesn't count.
Take inventory.
What's already working? What needs to shift? What's missing entirely?
Don't skip this part. It's the difference between wishful thinking and a real plan.
And here's where it scales:
How do these values show up in how you lead others?
How you run meetings. How you give feedback. How you handle conflict or ambiguity. Your leadership doesn't exist in a vacuum—it either reinforces your values or contradicts them.
So here's the play:
Pick two values. Define them in behavior, not buzzwords. Commit to three simple tactics that move you forward. Decide how you'll track alignment. Take stock of what's working and what's not.
In a short 90 days, you could be in a completely different place mentally, physically, financially, and professionally. Results don’t just happen to you--they require a plan of action.
You’ve got 90 days.
I’ve picked generosity and excellence. If you could choose just two values to lead with through the year-end, what would they be?
