The Burnout Solution
Everyone is feeling burnt out at work. It doesn't matter if we are on-premises, remote, or hybrid.
Burnout is certainly not a new concept, but the last three years have exacerbated our feelings of being burnt and stressed out.
Here’s what I’ve seen from working with a few hundred clients.
The burnout around your career well-being is real. It shows up with changes in our relationships, in over and under-consumption of what’s good for us, and we tend to veg out whenever possible.
Here’s what it may look like for you:
You keep trying to power through.
Maybe you think you will quit, but that's not available to many of us
We power through bc we are driven achievers, and we are driven for more.
We don't focus on what success looks like; we look towards those around us to help us define what success looks like. And we don't celebrate success
So what do you do? You redefine success, leverage leadership and nourish connections.
Redefine Success is so often tied to external factors like work. When this happens, our being successful can change within a few days. It’s a roller coaster. The expression “that person is so poor all they have is money” comes to mind. Question your mindset. Many believe that you can have a life or a great career. That’s not true. It’s not an either-or situation.
Leverage Leadership. As a leader, you have the opportunity to talk about a broader idea of success. There is a corporate climate and corporate culture. Sometimes the climate is stressful, but it blows over, and the culture can withstand it. The culture is what stays around, and it’s what you need to help create. You can create a culture of career well-being by talking about your habits around wellness, mindset, health, and decision-making as being vital skills for the job. This means you have to do it and share it, and when you do, you’ll empower others.
Nourish Connection. Networking and creating relationships around what you do professionally. I have many friends who love and support me. But they don't do what I do. They are not entrepreneurs. So there's an understandable knowledge gap. We spend about ⅓ of our time at work. The people that have the most impact on your well-being are those that you spend so much time with. Who's in your inner professional circle.
Next, we have to investigate our thinking and physically release the stress to move through burnout.
Stress always comes in two waves.
There are stressors and then the stress response.
Your body will take care of the stressor.
But YOU have to process the stress response. You can question your thoughts and do physical activity to release stress from your body. This can look like exercise, touch, or even laughter.
There are two ways to complete the stress cycle.
Mindset: questioning your thoughts, rebuilding beliefs, and practicing meditation are just a few of the mindset tools proven to help you complete the stress cycle.
Physical: exercise, walk, laugh, loving affection, creative expression, breath work, tense, and release muscles allow the neurochemicals and hormones to flush from your body.
I want to help you learn how to reduce burnout and develop the confidence and strategy you need to secure your future with a job that reflects your talents and who you are.
Using my proven framework, I've helped hundreds of clients amplify their strengths, increase visibility, create their career narratives, and design a bigger and brighter future.
